Today we are going to talk a little bit about rainwater harvesting.
We do quite a few projects with rainwater harvesting, which is becoming more and more prominent in North America. Many European, Asian, and African countries have done this for quite some time now, where rainwater is very crucial for the water infrastructure as well as everyday use. As it becomes more expensive in North America it is becoming more and more common over here as well.
With many North American municipalities offering rebates it’s very cost effective to get a rainwater harvesting system installed. Right now, you can save upwards of hundreds of dollars a year and have the system pay for itself very quickly. This benefits not only the homeowners but the municipalities as well.
Storm water management is a very crucial part of infrastructure from many municipalities. During events of heavy rainstorms, the infrastructure can become overwhelmed so having these rainwater collection and rainwater harvesting systems installed in regular residential households and commercial buildings can benefit the municipalities as well, so this is why they offer incentives on these programs.
During periods of heavy rainfall or deluge you can collect up to 300 gallons from a standard 1000-square foot home. Rainwater you can be used for multiple different purposes, not just gardening.
